Gantrex has pioneered the development of the Adjustable Chair for situations where post-installation vertical and horizontal settlements/movements of the foundation are anticipated (as with container stacking yards).
What are the Adjustable Chairs?
A type of discontinuous rail support that allows for horizontal and vertical adjustment of the rail. Adjustable chairs are typically made of metallic components, including a fixed base plate; on top of which come shims, whose number and/or thickness can be changed to achieve the desired height. On top of the shims comes an upper plate, which lateral position can sometimes be adjusted as well, for example, by means of slotted holes. Adjustable chairs are generally used when the supporting structure is expected to move, due, for example, to land settlement or sleeper movement in their ballast bed.
This genuine, patented Gantrex® system is equipped with the latest RailLok™ technology and allows for simple and rapid initial installation in compliance with the strictest rail tolerances including ISO 12488-1, AIST Technical Report 13, and CMAA, as well as for post-installation vertical and horizontal adjustments to restore rail elevation and horizontal positioning to these same tolerances in the event of foundation settlement or movements.
This patented system is particularly suitable for stacker-reclaimer cranes and cranes with automated positioning or operating systems, such as Automated Stacking Cranes.
