The runway, stupid!

The runway, stupid!

This sounds like the famous sentence “The economy, stupid!” which was coined by Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign strategist, James Carville, to focus the debate on economic issues, rather than ignoring them. This greatly contributed to Clinton’s victory against Bush Senior. Applied to the industry of crane rail tracks, this paraphrases the – sometimes – widespread belief that crane runways are just simple, dumb structures with no mechanical or electrical controls and are therefore not a matter of major interest…neither at building phase, nor at operation phase. But like “the economy” in James Carville’s phrase, bypassing this topic (the crane runway in this case) could lead to negative consequences.
