Crane rails are the core of the structure, called the crane track, which enables cranes to move by providing a reliable surface for their wheels to roll upon. Crane rails are calculated based on wear and desired life of the rail and wheels, considering their respective material characteristics as well as the static and dynamic data of the crane. The rail is carefully selected from the different profiles rolled by the rail mills worldwide. Usually the rail is delivered in straight lengths and according to the exact standard profile rolled by the mill. Sometimes nonetheless, specific projects need additional and complex machining of the rail profile, or specific bending of the lengths.
