Gantrex in unusual spots: the Ronquières Inclined Plane.

This exceptional waterway infrastructure, located on the Brussels-Charleroi Canal, south of Brussels, offsets a difference of level of 68 m over 1432 m. It consists of two independent caissons, measuring each 91 metres long by 12 metres wide. Each caisson, filled with water up to a minimum height of 3 metres, can carry one boat of 1,350 tons or many smaller boats. Those gigantic steel structures of 5700 tons each once loaded, move on 236 wheels travelling on 4 rails, smoothly resting on the GANTREX® rail pad.
