Flash Butt Welding is one of the most effective and technically advanced methods for joining crane rails and heavy-duty industrial tracks. It is widely recognized as the preferred crane rail welding method thanks to its superior weld quality, durability, and performance under demanding operating conditions.
Why Flash Butt Welding?
Flash Butt Welds deliver superior weld quality where a very narrow heat-affected zone, and produce joints that are nearly identical in strength to the parent rail. This dramatically reduces long-term joint batter and ensures exceptional rail continuity and reliability.
When performed in an organized workflow, the Flash Butt process enables very high production rates. It is most efficient when rails are fed to a fixed welding location and advanced down the runway on rollers.
The entire welding operation is fully automated once the portable weld head is positioned. Rail ends are heated by controlled electrical flashing and forged together using hydraulic pressure — guaranteeing repeatable and consistent weld performance.
