Connecting Tracks at Rhenus Port Logistics Stuttgart, Germany

At Gantrex, every project, regardless of its size, holds its own unique challenges and opportunities for innovation. Recently, our team had the privilege of undertaking a rather special project at Rhenus Port Logistics in Stuttgart.

The task at hand was to connect two existing tracks using a discontinuous fastening system. The gap between the two existing tracks was 157,5 meters. Our goal was to seamlessly integrate these tracks to create a continuous stretch of 840 meters, enhancing the efficiency and functionality of the rail system for the new handling excavator.

What made this project particularly distinctive was its location: the rail installation was situated on the water side, with a slope of approximately 1.4 millimeters per meter. This posed a significant challenge, requiring meticulous planning and precise calculation of grouting heights and grinding depths.

To address this, our team utilized a concrete grinder as part of our scope, ensuring that the rails were installed with accuracy and stability despite the challenging terrain. Additionally, careful consideration was given to the alignment and elevation of the rails, given that the waterside rail was approximately 2 meters below the floor level.

Despite the complexities involved, our team approached the project with dedication and expertise, ensuring that every aspect was executed with precision. The successful completion of this project underscores Gantrex’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions tailored to our clients’ specific needs.

We are proud to have played a role in enhancing the rail infrastructure at Rhenus Port Logistics Stuttgart and look forward to continuing to tackle unique challenges with excellence and ingenuity.
