In the ship building or ship repair industry, different technologies are used for transferring vessels on-shore. First, elevating the vessel out of the water can be done by a shiplift. Then, the vessel is transferred to the land on trolleys or cradles, to construction and maintenance berths and buildings. When this transfer zone is built in a single level, the carriage rails are installed at ground level with cross overs to provide a system that allows the transfer of vessels from sea to land. and then at 90 degrees. This means the vessels can be moved around the yard with maximum flexibility use. Other transfer technologies exist.
