Rail system design
The track design of container stacking cranes is key to the successful operation of the cranes. Especially with ASCs, the tolerances of the rail and the supporting foundations are critical to maximizing efficiency and reducing operational downtimes
Gantrex’ RailLok™ design ensures full and tight contact between the upper component of the clip and rail foot. Coupled with the Gantrex’ patented self-locking wedge, it keeps the tightened clip bolts in tension.
The RailLok™ pad’s specific grooves and edge design prevents damage or movement of the pads resultant from rail twisting and the bow wave effect, almost completely eliminating the risk of premature pad weakening ensuing from dirt ingress.

Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi, UAE
Khalifa Port is the flagship terminal of Abu Dhabi Ports Company. It was constucted in 2011 by Korean civil contracting giant Hyundai Engineering & Construction. Gantrex supplied the entire rail system for both the quay wall (2,000m rail) and the Automated Stacker Crane yard (17,900m rail).
Jebel Ali Container Terminal, UAE
Gantrex has been the main supplier for the Jebel Ali Container Terminal ever since its inception. Having supplied and/or installed most of the rails in CT1, CT2 and most recently having signed a turnkey contract for the supply and installation of the rail system for CT4, Gantrex considers itself a partner to DPWorld in this flagship port. The most recent extension of CT4 consists of supply and installation of 4,500m of rail A150 for the Quay Wall and nearly 20,000m of rail MRS87A for the automated stacker yard. Gantrex supplied the entire rail system and executed a full turnkey installation for the two contractors BAM International and Dutco Balfour Beatty. The project started in 2016 and is expected to be finished by mid 2017.
