R&D Innovation

Innovation has always been one of the corner stones of Gantrex strategy and has become part of the DNA for every Gantrex employee around the world, whether it is an engineer developing a new product, or a technician improving on installation processes to improve efficiency.

At Gantrex, we strongly believe in market leadership through technological and product leadership, as evidenced by the high number of innovative products we have developed, often in partnership with our customers:

  • In 2012, we revolutionized the rail fastening world with the development of the RailLokâ„¢ rail clip and pad series, a range of patented products developed in response to the increasingly demanding dynamic circumstances and tighter installation tolerances in today’s crane runway applications.
  • We also developed the first fully adjustable crane rail chair, a patented product that has since been successfully installed in multiple projects in Australia, China, Europe and North America.
  • In 2014, our Gantrex teams developed a flexible short rail solution in response to numerous requests from our port customers to find a solution to the common problem of rail wear, vibration, fatigue failure and driver discomfort on Ship-to-Shore cranes. This patented product has been proven to reduce vibration, improve driver comfort and reduce maintenance on cranes in North America, Europe and the Middle East.

  • In 2018 we developed an innovative cable protection solution for crane power cables
  • In 2020 we went on to create a patented innovative self-damping short rail solution, The Gantrex HingeGuard short rail
  • In addition to the above, our Gantrex experts have also developed many other products, including a side load measuring clip, able to measure with sufficient accuracy the side load omitted by the cranes on the rail system, a reconstituted rubber trench infill solution, designed to reduce tripping hazard and damage to crossing vehicles, and even a runway survey robot that allows automatic line and level surveying of crane runways based on in-house developed software and connection with Trimble total stations.
